Materiality is at the core of my work, often based on steel, each work evolves into a functionless object. Minimal at first glance. However, I aim to subvert traditional sculptural minimalism through the addition of hidden meaning and details to a formal object.

  Control is paramount, handmade construction creates a juxtaposition between the failings of the human hand and the aspiration of perfect precision, creating a dichotomy between perfection and imperfection. This relationship is frequently represented by the objects pairing and dialogue with light. However, often the contention lies within a single object which exists in solitude,

  I’m interested in sublimity that comes from a speechlessness, an inability to explain your thoughts derived from subliminal cognitive process and unintelligible emotions. This phenomena forms in parallel to concerns of materiality creating more subtle contrasts.
